Is Marathi voice typing free with VocalFlow?

The app is free and open source. Speech recognition runs on Deepgram with your own key: new accounts get $200 of credit, and after that Nova-3 streaming costs $0.0048 a minute (as of Oct 2026), billed in US dollars.

Will it mix up Marathi and Hindi?

Not when the language is set to Marathi (mr). Both use Devanagari, so the setting is what tells Deepgram which words and grammar to expect. Choose Nova-3 first; Marathi is not on the Nova-2 list.

Can I speak Minglish?

Yes. With a Groq or OpenRouter key, Code-Mix Input with Minglish keeps the mix in Roman letters, and Convert to Language with Marathi rewrites every word in Marathi.

Does Marathi voice typing work on Windows PCs?

Yes, on Windows 10 and 11 (64-bit), and on Macs with macOS 13 or later. On Windows the default hotkey is Right Alt.

Will the text paste correctly into Word and WhatsApp Web?

Yes. VocalFlow pastes standard Unicode Devanagari, the same text a Marathi keyboard produces, so it works in Word, Google Docs, Gmail, WhatsApp Web and browser forms.

Is my voice sent to VocalLabs?

No. Audio goes from your computer to Deepgram using your key, and text goes to Groq or OpenRouter only if you turn clean-up on. VocalFlow has no server of its own.

Marathi voice typing

Marathi voice typing that writes Marathi, not Hindi.

Marathi voice typing has a catch that Hindi users never notice. Both languages are written in Devanagari, so a recogniser listening for Hindi is the wrong tool for Marathi, however similar the letters look. VocalFlow lets you set the language to Marathi itself, so what you say comes back as Marathi: आहे, not है, with ळ where it belongs.

Marathi and Hindi

Devanagari is shared; vocabulary, grammar and even punctuation habits are not. That is why the language setting matters more for Marathi speech to text than the script does.

Setup

Install VocalFlow
The .exe for Windows 10 and 11, or the .pkg for macOS 13 or later. It runs from the system tray or the menu bar.

Add a Deepgram key
Sign up at deepgram.com (new accounts get $200 of credit, no card needed), paste the API key into Settings and click Save & Verify.

Pick Nova-3, then Marathi
Choose the Nova-3 model first, then set the language to Marathi (mr). Deepgram’s older Nova-2 does not list Marathi.

Turn on clean-up if you mix English
Add a Groq or OpenRouter key, then use Convert to Language with Marathi for all-Marathi text, or Code-Mix Input with Minglish for Roman letters.

Hold the hotkey and speak
Right Alt on Windows or Right Option on a Mac by default. Speak, let go, and the Marathi text lands at your cursor.
